Recent Art Show and a Little about the artist Russ Smith

The fact remains that in this economy people view art as a luxury item and are very careful and often hesitant when purchasing art. This was very evident at a recent art show which I had the pleasure to attend. The art show was at Shore Lodge in McCall Idaho and featured over 20 local artist.

As I set up for the show anticipation was high as at a resent show I did quite while and was able to share my drawings with quite a few clients.

Recently if you take into consideration travel expenses and booth fees I have been paying people to view my work. However it is just part of the game.

Selling art is an art in its self and the learning curve is great. When I first started selling my drawing it was a point that I had to learn the hard way and still struggle with. However I have found that networking with other artist is a great benefit.

As and artist we try to educate individuals so they
realize that art is an investment  that will last for years and give them the please of display works that they like.
After about two hours I am set up and waiting for the show to start. The Shore Lodge was a beautiful place and atmosphere was wonderful, I do wish that the parking and access was a little more user friendly but I had no control on that.

I posted this to the blog just to let you know that I am real and that I enjoy being able to share my work with you as well as hear your comments be they good or bad i always enjoy the input from you.

A I gather some information and decide on just how I want to develop this blog I thought I would just let you get to know me a little bit. As you can see from my booth I love nature and trying to capture its emotion with my drawings. As mentioned earlier most of my work is done with charcoal although I  recently started experimenting with pastels and colored pencil.

The images below are two of my most recent works The eagle was done using pastels while the humming bird was done with colored pencil.
